What NOT to do

Don't Buy Arch-Support Running Shoes

I thought so too — bought 2 pairs of Nike arch-support running shoes and wore them for 2 years (2023-2024). Zero recovery. One day I wore Air Force 1s (flat soles) and my feet hurt LESS. That's when I realized — arch-support shoes were the problem.

Why Does It Get Worse?

Arch-support shoes push up on the arch of your foot. When the plantar fascia is already inflamed, pushing up directly on it adds more irritation. It's like constantly pressing on an already sore spot.

My Shoe Experience Ranking

  1. New Balance 1080 — Best. Cushioned but doesn't press on arch
  2. Nike Air Force 1 — Okay. Flat sole
  3. Flat/hard shoes — Better than arch-support
  4. Nike arch-support running shoes — Worse. Pressing on arch causes more pain
